LG Dual Cool Special a lot of LG for the money.

Most people think they're buying air conditioning for the handful of really hot days each summer. In reality this is a year-round LG climate system, and even our least expensive range does far more than simply make a room cold.

LG's Dual Inverter technology continuously adjusts its output rather than repeatedly switching flat out on and off. That means efficient cooling, quiet operation, and highly efficient heat-pump heating when the weather turns cold.

WiFi isn't an optional extra either. Every unit has LG ThinQ built in, so you can change the temperature, programme the system, or switch it on before you get home — straight from your phone.

In winter it becomes particularly useful. Instead of turning the whole central-heating system up every time one room feels cold, keep the house at a sensible background temperature and use the LG to bring the room you're actually using up to temperature quickly. Heat-pump heating can deliver several units of heat for every unit of electricity consumed, so under the right conditions it can cost less per unit of useful heat than a gas boiler.

It's especially effective alongside underfloor heating, which is wonderfully comfortable but painfully slow to respond. Let the underfloor hold the background temperature; let the LG deal with the next few degrees.

There's a dehumidification mode too — useful on humid summer days, and when you're drying washing indoors without dumping all that moisture into the house.
